SAN ANTONIO – The City of San Antonio announced it will open some of its city-owned swimming pools for its preseason on Saturday, May 24, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
The City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department said six pools will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-7 p.m. They are free to the public.
Those pools include:
- Dellview Park - 500 Basswood Dr.
- Fairchild Park - 1214 E. Crockett St
- Kingsborough Park - 350 Felps Blvd.
- Lady Bird Johnson Park - 10700 Nacogdoches Road
- Westwood Village Park - 7627 W. Military Dr.
- Woodlawn Lake Park - 221 Alexander Ave.
The preseason pools will also be open on Memorial Day from 1-7 p.m. on Monday, May 26.
The city said Woodlawn Lake Pool will be open for lap swim and aqua fitness from 7:30-9:30 a.m. from Tuesdays through Fridays starting May 27.
The City of San Antonio is expected to open the rest of its 24 outdoor pools sometime in June, though the exact dates hasn’t yet been determined.
Pool Rules
Some of the highlights include:
- Children 10 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
- There should be at least one adult in a group for every two children 9 years old or younger.
- No floaties are allowed at the pools, only Coast Guard-approved life jackets.
- No pets allowed
- Appropriate swimwear is required. That can include polyester, lycra or spandex shirts for sun protection, but the city asks swimmers not to wear cotton clothing, and denim clothing and cut-offs are not permitted.
- Any children in diapers must wear swim diapers.
- Food and water are allowed, but no other drinks. No glass containers are allowed.
- Swim goggles are allowed, but not masks, snorkels, fins, or mermaid outfits.
